William "Bill" Raymond Speth, 78, of Rotonda West, FL, formerly of Cuba City, WI, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at his daughter's home in Ft. Myers, FL. His life well lived will be celebrated with a memorial service held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 6th at Haudenshield Funeral Home & Crematory in Cuba City, WI. Family and friends may call on Sunday, October 6th from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial with military honors accorded will be held at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Cuba City, WI. The Haudenshield Funeral Home & Crematory in Cuba City, WI is serving the family.
Bill was born October 6, 1945 to Raymond Charles Speth and Alice May (Holtz) in Platteville, WI. He married Sara Ann Brewer on July 25, 1970 in Cuba City, WI.
Bill humbly took great pride in his service to his country through four years of service in the Marine Corps returning from two tours in Vietnam, decorated with the Silver Star with Combat 'V', Bronze Star with Combat 'V', the Purple Heart, and many more accommodations. In further service to his country, he worked for the U.S. Forest Service for thirty years before retiring in 2002. He was a man of God and prouder still to be a leader in his church. However, nothing mattered more to him than the care and keeping of his family and friends, which he provided, without fail, to them throughout his entire life, most notably to his wife Sara.
Bill had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening, and like his father, was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him. Semper fidelis, Dad.
Left to cherish is memory are his wife, Sara Speth; a son, Paul Speth (Amy); a daughter, Jane Fried (Craig Goode); adopted sons, Byron and Mark; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two brothers: Phil (Sherri) Speth and Frank (Junerose) Speth; three sisters: Betty Dellabella, Peggy (Butch) Bockhop, and Penny Kies along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Ann Marie Sambles, and two brothers-in-law, Gary Kies and Richard Dellabella.
In lieu of plants & flowers a William "Bill" Raymond Speth Memorial Fund has been established.
