William Gerald "Jerry" Bennett, 66, of Shullsburg, WI passed on Monday, March 5, 2012 peacefully at his home. Services will be held at 11:30am on Saturday, March 10, at the Centenary United Methodist Church with Pastor Jeff Meyer officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Friends may call on Friday, March 9, at the Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City, WI from 4-8pm and on Saturday from 10:30am till time of service at the church. Jerry was born on May 17, 1945 to James W. & May (Fowler) Bennett in Cuba City, WI. He married Carol Watson on November 14, 1964 in New Diggings, WI. He had worked as a diesel mechanic for over 40 years in the Shullsburg area and retired in 2007 from Hirschbach Motor Lines. Jerry enjoyed working on his tractors, going to tractor pulls and would help anyone that had a project going. He also loved time spent with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Jerry is survived by his wife Carol Bennett in Shullsburg, WI; 2 daughters: Cheryl (Rod) Krippendorf of Stockton, IL and Sharon (Tom Gaffney) Bennett of Shullsburg, WI; 3 grandchildren: Trent (Jen) Gile of Stockton, IL, Trevor Gile of Freeport, IL and Kristen Krippendorf of Stockton, IL; 2 great grandchildren: Tanner & Wesley Gile of Stockton, IL; 3 sisters: Phyliss Lange of Cedar Rapids, IA, Judy (Butch) Rowley of Apple River, IL and Sandy (Dennis) Foley of Kenosha, WI; a sister-in-law: Judy (Jake Vogt) Hocking; a brother-in-law: Chuck (Karen) Watson. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Ronnie; an infant sister Shirley; father-in-law & mother-in-law, Wendall & Elinor Watson and 2 brother-in-laws, Bob Lange and Jim Hocking. In lieu of flowers Jerry Bennett Memorial Fund has been established.
