It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William C. Becher, known to many as Bill or Billy. Born on September 21, 1960, in Appleton, Wisconsin, Bill peacefully departed this world on May 12, 2026, at his home in Cuba City, after a brief but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer that had spread to his liver. Per Bill's wishes, there will be no services. The Haudenshield Funeral Home & Crematory in Cuba City, WI is serving the family.

Bill was the beloved son of William S. Becher and Marilyn M. (Whitmarsh) Becher, who instilled in him values of kindness, resilience, and a love for the outdoors. A devoted partner, Bill shared over seven wonderful years with his significant other, Sara Hilby. Their bond was a testament to enduring love and companionship. Together, they shared a large, blended family. Bill is survived by his parents, and four daughters, Dahlia Becher, Brieanda (Justin Robinson) Becher, Ariana (Patrick Logan) Becher, and Destiny (Brad) Davis.  He also leaves behind his siblings, Mary (Michael) Zimmerman, Barbara (Stephen) Butler, Robert (Martha) Becher, Ben (Deborah) Becher, Beverly (Jim) Buss, and Brenda (David) Carico. He was preceded in death by a nephew, Joshua Zimmerman.

Bill's heart extended to Sara's children, Ashley (Ryann) Kueter, Joey (Becca) Hilby, Nicholas (Amanda) Hilby, and Amanda (Kasey) Timmerman, as well as to his treasured grandchildren, "the babies": Victoria Becher, Landon, Lucy, and Lyla Kueter, Sophia, Joe, and Jackson Hilby, and Emma and Levi Hilby.  The only thing he liked more than fishing was spending time with family.

At the age of 43 Bill returned to school and graduated from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, earning a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology. His academic journey was marked by his induction into The National Scholars Honor Society and Tau Alpha Pi Fraternity National Honor Society, demonstrating his dedication to excellence, two of his proudest moments.

As an avid fisherman, he rarely missed the opening day of fishing season and spent countless summer weekends at his parents' cabin, sharing his love for the sport with Sara and Dahlia. His enthusiasm for fishing was as infectious as his optimism, commonly found in his go-to phrases: "It's a good day, tater!" and "Here fishy, fishy, fish!"

In these trying times, the family extends heartfelt gratitude to those who supported them during Bill's last two weeks of life. Special thanks to Dr. Lindsay, nurse Emma at Southwest Health ER, Dr. Heun with Southwest Health Oncology, Dr. Kueter, nurse Sadie at Southwest Health Family Medicine, and the compassionate staff at UW Hospital - Madison - Oncology Unit.

It's not goodbye, it's see you later!  Gone fishing......
