Vayda Jean French, 79, of Columbus, NC, formerly of Cuba City, WI, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at St. Luke's Hospital, Columbus, NC. Funeral Services will be held at 10am on Monday, December 5, 2011at the United Methodist Church in Cuba City, with Pastor Debbie Pimm officiating. Visitation will be Sunday December 4, 2011 from 2pm to 6pm at the Haudenshield Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Cuba City, WI. Friends may also call on Monday December 5, 2011 at the church from 9am until the time of services at the United Methodist Church. Born in Cuba City, WI. January 23,1932 Vayda was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Thelma (Hodge) Dearth. Mrs. French was a member of the Tryon United Methodist Church, Tryon, NC, the American Contract Bridge League, and the Military Officers Association of America. She also volunteered at Steps to Hope, enjoyed travelling, and spending with family. Playing Bridge, reading and working on cross-word puzzles were her favorite hobbies. She was a homemaker and the widow of William French, who died in 1993. Surviving are one son, Steven L. French (Vicki) of Winder, GA; 2 daughters, Vickie Leonard (Bob) of Greensburg, PA and Susan Mihalchean (Scott) of Spokane, WA. Two Sister, Aletha Masbruch of Jackson, WI, Lenore Creuziger (Fritz) of Racine, WI; sister-in-law Margaret Dearth of Wimberley, TX, and two brothers-in-law, Robert Creuziger of Racine, WI, and George French (Virginia) of Benton, WI. Grandchildren Amanda (Shawn) Lantz, Cory Schurz, Chris (Dawn) French, Ashley French, Brandon French, Tanner French, Aimee (Mark) Puetz, and Ryan (Jennifer) Tait; great-grandchildren Cole, Andrew, Camryn, Brennen, Brooklyn, Dylan, Zane, Liam, and Makena. Also 18 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Alta Creuziger and one brother Wayne Dearth, and brothers-in-law Malcolm French and Robert Masbruch.
