Teddy P. Wilkison, 89, of Cuba City, WI passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, IA. Services will be held at 7pm on Thursday, April 17th at Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City, WI, with Pastor Denise Anderson officiating and full military honors by Platteville VFW Post 5274. Friends may call from 3-7pm on Thursday at the Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City, WI. Burial will be with full military honors accorded on Friday, April 18th at 10:30am at the Rock Island National Cemetery in Rock Island, IL. Teddy was born on June 28, 1924 to Virgil & Edna (Warner) Wilkison in Chicago, IL. He attended school in Platteville, WI and graduated from Robin High School and even continued schooling in the US Navy. Teddy was a US Navy veteran and served during WWII, Korea and Vietnam until retiring in 1972 as a lieutenant. He was proud of his military service and extremely proud of the 17 yrs. he served on submarines especially the USS Flasher during WWII. He was State Commander for the State of Wisconsin, a member of US Submarine Veterans of WWII, US Submarine Vets Inc., American Legion 40/8, past Post Commander of the Platteville VFW Post 5274, and Atomic Vets. He married Mary Ellen Byrne on July 16, 1946 in Arlington, VA. He has lived in Platteville, WI (1925-1943), Bagley, WI (1967-1984) and Cuba City, WI (1984-2014) after retiring from the Navy. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and leather crafting, but most of all was time he spent with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Teddy is survived by 3 daughters: Mary Jean (Bill) Whitford of Concord, CA, Paula (Mike) Mulligan of Port Charlotte, FL and Virginia (David) Mechnig of Des Plaines, IL; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; along with nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary Ellen (Feb. 13, 2005). In lieu of flowers on behalf of Teddy's family all donations can be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
