Shirley A. Mims, 94, of Galena, IL, formerly of Digby, Nova Scotia, Canada and St. Petersburg, FL passed away on Monday, August 30, 2021 at Galena Stauss Senior Care Community in Galena, IL. A private family service and burial will be held at a later date. The Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City, WI is serving the family.

Shirley was born on May 3, 1927 to Roy & Vivian (McNutt) Snow in Boston, MA. She was the first Scallop Queen in Nova Scotia, Canada and a graduate from Academy of Dramatic Art in New York City, NY. She made her way to the Broadway stage in her acting career and had performed with many notable talents, such as Kate Smith, Ann Bancroft & Lauren Bacall. She later owned and operated her a restaurant during the summer months called "The Bon-E-Lass Restaurant" for over 35 years. She married Arthur Stone and later was united into marriage with George Mims in 1962 in Florida. She was a member of the Screen Actors Guild in New York City, NY. Shirley enjoyed yards sales and auctions, antiques, but most of all, she enjoyed time spent with her family and friends. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Shirley is survived by 5 children: Janalee Jividen of Galena, IL and her sons: Austin (Bailey) Jividen and great-grandchild, Miles Jividen and son, Winston Jividen; Jayne Stone of Digby, Nova Scotia, Canada/Florida, USA and her son, Joshua Stone; Jay (Cheryl) Stone of Bear River, Nova Scotia, Canada and their son, Jeremey Stone; Jewell (Roger) Stone-Birks of Maine and Jill (Jim) Stone-MacDonald of Florida and their son, Jagger.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, George Mims and Arthur Stone and a grandson, Cody Stone.

In lieu of plants & flowers a Shirley A. Mims Memorial Fund has been established.
