Obituary

Shirley Ann Hughes, 68, of Cuba City, WI, formerly of Maquoketa, IA, passed away on Sunday September 12, 2010 at her home. Services will be 11am on Friday September 17, 2010 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Benton, WI, with Father David Flanagan officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Friends may call on Thursday September 16, from 4-7pm at the Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City, WI and on Friday from 10:30am till time of service at the church.

Shirley was born on October 1, 1941 to Melvin and Maleta (Pfohl) Roling in Galena, IL. She attended Galena High School and Capri College of Cosmetology in Dubuque, IA. She married Tony Hughes on September 29, 1962 in LaMotte, IA. Shirley was also member of the St. Patrick's church in Benton, WI. She enjoyed history, art, politics, reading, piano, sewing, painting, volunteering and time spent with family and friends. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Shirley is survived by her husband Tony; two daughters: Paula Hughes and Penny (Howard) Appleford both of Thousand Oaks, CA; grandchildren: Courtney, Kylie and Jake Appleford; two brothers: Richard Roling of Shullsburg, WI and Dave (Joyce) Roling of Lena, IL; three sisters: Pat (Kenny) Olson of Warren, IL, Juanita Roling of Milwaukee, WI and Pam (Bill) Shomler of Slinger, WI, along with nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Mark, a sister Donna Seng and a brother Donnie Roling.

In lieu of flowers a Shirley Ann Hughes Memorial Fund has been established.
