Shirley M. Briel, 89, of Cuba City, WI passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 23rd at the Haudenshield Funeral Home & Crematory in Cuba City, WI, with Pastor Carter Jorgensen officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Cuba City, WI. Family and friends may call on Friday, January 23rd from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. The Haudenshield Funeral Home & Crematory in Cuba City, WI is serving the family.

Shirley was born on April 12, 1936 to L.O. & Gladys (Bevins) Addison on Easter Day at her grandmother's house in Lancaster, WI and was raised on her family's farm. She liked being outside with her dad and helping him, especially when he let her drive the John Deere tractor. Her parents bought a little gas & groceries store at Liberty Ridge, where her job was to help pump gas and change tires. She had a lot of animals, a special loved for dogs, and used to go fishing with her friend, Carl and catch turtles, where they would sell them to eating establishments.

Both Shirley & Carl liked to play country music with the fiddle & accordion, and Shirley on banjo and guitar. They moved to Cuba City, WI and married on September 13, 1969. She was a member of the Cuba City United Methodist Church since 1999, and a member of the United Methodist Church Women & Circle Esther. She worked at D & D Store in Lancaster, WI. Shirley enjoyed riding her moped scooter, playing music, woodwork, fishing, hunting, but most of all, she enjoyed time spent with her family and friends. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Shirley is survived by her cousin, Gary Addison of Lancaster, WI.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Carl (April 13, 1992) and cousin-in-law, Charleene Addison.

In lieu of plants & flowers, a Shirley M. Briel Memorial Fund has been established.
