Obituary

Sharon K. Tranel, 74, of Cuba City, WI passed away on Friday, March 13, 2026. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 19th  at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cuba City, WI, with Fr. Donald Tranel officiating. Burial will be in the St. Rose Church Cemetery in Cuba City, WI. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18th  at the Haudenshield Funeral Home & Crematory in Cuba City, WI; also on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.  at the funeral home.  The Haudenshield Funeral Home & Crematory in Cuba City, WI is serving the family.

Sharon was born on November 18, 1951, to Francis & Ella (Fry) Unbehaun in Reedsburg, WI. She was a graduate from Cuba City High School and a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. She married Delbert "Del" J. Tranel on May 5, 2005, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cuba City, WI. She worked for The Market House Tavern in Galena, IL for over 17 years and the Belmont Travel Center for 17 years. Sharon enjoyed making quilts, crocheting, puzzles, trips to Wisconsin Dells, but most of all, she enjoyed time spent with her family and friends. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Sharon is survived by her loving husband of 21 years, Del; 6 step-children: Steve (Melissa) Tranel of Cuba City, WI, Tim (Rhonda) Tranel of Dubuque, IA, Chris (Kari) Tranel of Blue Mounds, WI, Randy Tranel of Middelton, WI, Gail (Tim) Pitzen of Cuba City, WI and Amy (Jason) Recob of De Pere, WI; 16 step-grandchildren; 6 siblings: Mary (Frank) Blahnik of Cuba City, WI, Roy (Linda) Unbehaun of Lime Ridge, WI, Carol (Don) Brown of Lanark, IL, Steve (Chris) Unbehaun and Robert (Debbie) Unbehaun both of Shullsburg, WI and Joan (Dick) Peck of Ohio; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 siblings: Jerry (Jenny) Unbehaun, Dennis (Ruth) Unbehaun and Jean (Pat) Horkan, a daughter-in-law, Dana Odegaard, a niece, Kelly Peck and a nephew, Brian Brown.

In lieu of plants & flowers, a Sharon K. Tranel Memorial Fund has been established.
