Samuel W. Pickel, 70, of Cuba City, WI, passed away on Friday, August 23, 2024 at home surrounded by his family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 27th, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kieler, WI; with Fr. Bernard Rott officiating.  A private family burial will be held at a later date. Family and friends may call on Monday, August 26th from 4:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Parish Center in Kieler, WI; also on Tuesday, August 27th from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the parish center. The family requests all funeral attendees to wear their favorite Wisconsin Badgers, Green Bay Packers or Milwaukee Brewers apparel to Sam's services in his memory. The Haudenshield Funeral Home & Crematory in Cuba City, WI is serving the family.

Sam was born on June 23, 1954 Eldon & Agnes (Wiegman) Pickel in Dubuque, IA. He attended Immaculate Conception Elementary and graduated from Southwestern High School. He married Cynthia M. Sherman on March 11, 1978 in Belmont, WI. He worked for over 25 years at Flexsteel Industries until his retirement in 2011. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Parish, a board member of the Teamsters-UAW Local 120 Dubuque, and Dubuque Area Labor Management Council. Sam enjoyed hunting, fishing, horseshoe throwing, watching professional baseball & football, especially the Wisconsin Badgers, Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers. But most of all, he enjoyed time spent with his family, grandchildren and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Sam is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Cindy; 3 children: Sarah (Jeremy) Rouse of Kieler, WI, Brooke (Andy Berning) Gomez of Cuba City, WI and Michael Pickel of Hazel Green, WI; 5 grandchildren: Victoria, Dylan & Dawson Rouse, Alex & Nerisa Gomez; 8 siblings: Dennis Pickel of Kieler, WI, Deborah (Francis) Droeszler of Hazel Green, WI, Eldon (Barbara) Pickel, Terrance (Sharon) Pickel, both of Kieler, WI, Timothy (Joan) Pickel of Cuba City, WI, Marla (Richard) Mitchell of Mineral Point, WI, Michael (Chris) Pickel of Orfordville, WI and Gregory "Beef" (Con) Pickel of Mineral Point, WI; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws, Kermit & Bea Sherman.

In lieu of plants and flowers, a Samuel W. Pickel Memorial Fund has been established.
