Ronald “Ron” M. Schultz, 83, of Scales Mound, IL, formerly of Cuba City, WI, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2026. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 19th at the Haudenshield Funeral Home & Crematory in Cuba City, WI. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Family and friends may call on Friday, September 18th from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Haudenshield Funeral Home & Crematory in Cuba City, WI; also on Saturday, September 19th from 9:00 a.m. until the time service at the funeral home. The Haudenshield Funeral Home & Crematory in Cuba City, WI is serving the family. 

Ron was born on March 6, 1943, in the quiet community of Hanover, Illinois, to loving parents Matthew and Viola. From an early age, Ron exhibited a curiosity for the world around him, a trait that would shape his life and inspire countless others.

Growing up on the family farm, Ron developed a deep appreciation for the land and honed his skills as a fixer of all things. This early life experience fostered a versatile talent, earning him the reputation of a true renaissance man. Whether it was a piece of machinery or a simple toy, Ron could mend it with care and precision. His love for tractors, both life-sized and miniature, was a testament to his connection with his roots, and for the past 15 years, he dedicated himself to restoring toy tractors, bringing joy to young and old alike.

Ron attended Stockton High School and furthered his education at Luther College, where he not only pursued a degree in Biology but also excelled on the football field. His athletic prowess and dedication to the sport earned him a place in the Luther Football Hall of Fame, a testament to his remarkable years on the team. With a passion for science and education, Ron embarked on a 39-year career at Cuba City High School, where he was a beloved science teacher, and high school football & wrestling coach. His enthusiasm for teaching and his ability to make complex concepts accessible inspired a love for learning in many students, leaving a lasting legacy in the hearts of those he taught.

On July 22, 1967, Ron married his beloved Jan, beginning a beautiful journey together that has spanned 59 years. Their partnership was a beacon of love and support, and together they raised four wonderful children: Jon, Kirk, Jason, and Kristin. Ron's family was his pride and joy, and his quick wit and warm smile were ever-present, making him the cherished jokester of family gatherings.

Beyond his immediate family, Ron's legacy is carried on through his siblings, Jim and Diana, and his six grandchildren, Kyle, Ryan, Chase, Campbell, Madeline & Emma, who brought immense joy to his life. After retiring from teaching, Ron fulfilled a lifelong dream by building a home on the family farm, meticulously placing each nail with care, a testament to his dedication and craftsmanship.

Ron will always be remembered for his generosity, humor, and unwavering love for his family and friends. Those who knew him best will forever hold dear the memory of a man who lived life with passion and purpose, never shying away from helping someone in need, to working with his hands or sharing the warmth of his heart.

Ron is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Jan; 4 children: Jon (Robin) Schultz of Eau Claire, WI, Kirk (Kristi) Schultz of Dubuque, IA, Jason Schultz of Fairhope, AL & Kristin (Jon) Cutlan of Marshfield, WI; 6 grandchildren: Kyle Schultz, Ryan Schultz, Chase Schultz, Campbell Cutlan, Madeline Cutlan & Emma Cutlan; a brother, James (Jane) Schultz of Colorado Springs, CO, a sister, Diana Heindenreich of Elizabeth, IL; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Allen Heidenreich.

In lieu of plants & flowers, the family suggests contributions in Ron's honor to the Parkinson’s Foundation, reflecting his spirit of giving and kindness and his 25-year struggle with Parkinson’s Disease.
