Robert "Bob" J. Newlun's Obituary
Robert "Bob" J. Newlun, 71, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, January 11, 2016. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 16th at the Windsor United Church of Christ in Windsor, WI with Rev. Julie Overman & Rev. David McDonald officiating. Burial with military honors accorded will be in the Windsor Cemetery in Windsor, WI. Friends may call from 3:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 15th at the Windsor United Church of Christ and on Saturday, January 16th from 10:30 a.m. until time of service at the church. The

Bob was born on January 4, 1945 in Woodstock, IL. He grew up in La Farge, WI with his parents Paul & Helen (McElhose) Newlun, graduating from La Farge High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S Navy. He served from 1962-1965 and was stationed at Pearl Harbor, HI. After his honorable discharge, he worked a few different jobs at Frito-Lay in Madison, WI and for Warren Transport before beginning in his career at Mendota Mental Health Institute, where he worked for 33 years in the security department. He retired at the end of 2003. It was at Mendota that he met his wife, Lorraine "Lori" Gasser. They married in September 1980.
Bob loved being outdoors and putzing in the yard when he wasn't busy keeping the vehicles all clean and shiny. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, loved deer hunting each fall and enjoyed being in the woods and spending time with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Bob is survived by his wife, Lori; daughter-in-law, Tracy Dempsey; 2 grandchildren: Griffin & Jessica Newlun all of La Farge, WI; his son, Rob Newlun; 3 sisters-in-law: Mariellen Gasser of Windsor, WI, Janet (Richard) Krueger of Hazel Green, WI and Audrey (Mitch) Weger of Madison, WI; his special companion, Bandit; along with nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, a father/mother-in-law, Merlin & Ellen Gasser .
In lieu of flowers a Robert "Bob" J. Newlun Memorial Fund has been established.
