Robert "Bob" H. Goldthorpe, 63, of Madison, WI, formerly of Cuba City, WI passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family. A Celebration of Life for family and friends to remember a life lived to the fullest will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 19th at the Cole Acres Country Club, 7617 Co Rd J, Cuba City, WI, with reflections and military rites accorded. Friends may call from NOON until time of service at the Cole Acres Supper Club on Sunday, July 19th. In spirit of Bob, everyone is asked to dress casual in their favorite sports team colors. Bob was born in Hazel Green, WI son of Chris & Rosemary (Bauer) Hoelting. Bob married Cindy Murray on September 26, 1981 in Cuba City, WI. Bob enjoyed all sports and was the sports editor for the family newspaper for many years and went on to work for the Archdiocese of Dubuque, where he retired after 27yrs. in 2013. He served in the US Navy, Cuba City Fire Dept., for 14 yrs. and the Cuba City Council. Bob loved the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers and golfing. Bob is survived by his wife, Cindy of Madison, WI; his daughter, Erica (Justin) Rettenberger and granddaughter, Brielle of Temecula, CA; his son, Todd (Brooklyn) Goldthorpe and grandson coming Dec. 25th of Cuba City, WI; a sister, Cindy (Bob) Fishler of Cuba City, WI; 2 brothers: Bill Goldthorpe and Rick (Ellen Bennett) Goldthorpe of Cuba City, WI; a mother-in-law, Dorothy Murray of Cuba City, WI; 2 sisters-in-law: Janice Murray of Cuba City, WI and Wendy (Greg) Gorius of Highland, WI; a brother-in-law, John Murray (Theresa Gleason) of Cuba City, WI; an aunt, Margaret (Dale) Hubb of Stockton, IL; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chris & Rosemary Hoelting; stepfather, Rex Goldthorpe, father-in-law, Joseph Murray, 2 brothers-in-law, Mike Murray and Bob Ferrin and a nephew, Tim Ferrin. In lieu of flowers a Robert "Bob" H. Goldthorpe Memorial Fund has been established.
