Robert C. Cragg, 88, of Cuba City, WI passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 UW-Madison Hospital in Madison, WI. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 5th at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cuba City, WI; with Fr. David Flanagan officiating. Burial with military honors accorded will be in the St. Rose of Lima Church Cemetery in Cuba City, WI. Family & friends may call on Tuesday, December 5th from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cuba City, WI. The Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City, WI is serving the family.
Robert was born on June 29, 1935 to Clive & Anna Isabell (Kernan) Cragg in Hollandale, WI. He was a graduate from Argyle High School in 1954 and enlisted in the US Army at Fort Campbell, and Company D 101st Airborne Division 506th Infantry. The 101st Airborne Division, a constantly maintains an immediate readiness force for airborne deployment to any area of the world.
He was united in marriage to Mary Jane Kaiser on September 12, 1964 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cuba City, WI. He worked as a farmer, cheesemaker, J.I. Case in Rockford, IL and then worked for 31 years at John Deere Dubuque Works until he retired on January 31, 1992.
Robert enjoyed fishing, hunting, wine making, an avid card player, camping, gardening, baking, NASCAR, western TV shows, country western music, the Wisconsin Badgers & Green Bay Packers fan, but most of all, he enjoyed time spent with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mary Jane; 5 children: Anthony Cragg of North Freedom, WI, Anna (Dan) Schmitz of Townsend, MA, Rose (Adam) Berning of Platteville, WI, Joe (Donna) Cragg of Hollandale, WI and Bobbie (Chris) Droessler of Dickeyville, WI; 13 grandchildren: Ben, Kim, Miranda, Skylar, Kara, Mariah, Tanisha, Stephen, Alex, Erika, Amber, Katie & Hailie; 4 great-grandchildren: Vivian, Lillith, Jeremiah & Adrien; nieces & nephews: Ed Jr. Schuchart, John (Mary) Schuchart, Rick Schuchart, Ronnie (Julie) Schuchart, Deb (Boo) Kurth, David (Lori) Schuchart; a sister-in-law, Maxine Schuchart; and extended family, Clete & LaVonne Kaiser.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Joseph Cragg, a sister, Betty (Ed) Schuchart, in-laws, Ed & Agnes (Busch) Kaiser, and 3 nieces, Connie Brown, Diane Schuchart & Deb (Furlong) Schuchart.
In lieu of plants & flowers, a Robert C. Cragg Memorial Fund has been established.
