Myrtle C. Valentine, 93, of Lancaster, WI , formerly of New Diggings, WI passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Orchard Manor Nursing Home in Lancaster, WI. Private family services will be held at a later date. The Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City, WI is serving the family. Myrtle was born on March 31, 1921 to Joseph & Catherine (Jelson) Maas in Dubuque, IA. She worked in her family's grocery store in Dubuque, IA and married Don Keene. Together they owned and operated K & B Gas & the New Diggings Tavern in New Diggings, WI. They were married for over 30 years and had one daughter, Katherine. After Don's death, she moved to Cassville, WI to take care of her sister, Liz and met and married Tom Valentine. Myrtle enjoyed gardening, puzzles and baking. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Myrtle is survived by her daughter, Katie Shellenberger of Cuba City, WI; 7 grandchildren & 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Don Keene & Tom Valentine; 10 siblings; and a step daughter. In lieu of flowers a Myrtle C. Valentine Memorial Fund has been established.
