Obituary

Mildred M. "Millie" "Sis" Schnee, 91, of Dubuque, IA passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, IA surrounded by her family. Services will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, October 13th at the Linwood Cemetery Chapel in Dubuque, IA with Rev. Calvin Hughes officiating. Burial will be in the Linwood Cemetery, Dubuque, IA. Friends may call from 4pm-8pm on Monday, October 12th at the Linwood Cemetery Chapel, Dubuque, IA and on Tuesday, October 13th from 9:30am until time of service at the Linwood Cemetery Chapel, Dubuque, IA. The Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City, WI is serving the family. Millie was born on July 16, 1924 to George and Josephine (Kress) Peil. She previously lived in East Dubuque, but she spent most of her life in the Point area of Dubuque, IA She married Joseph R. Schnee in 1943 and they later divorced in 1968. They had four children together. Charles, James, Kay and Victoria. Millie was employed at Loras College in Dubuque, IA for almost 30 years until her retirement in 1993. Millie's main love in her life was her family. She was good to all of her children and adored her grandchildren and great grandchild. She enjoyed doing word search puzzles and watching Dancing with the Stars. She was a great cook and you never left her house after visiting before you had something to eat. Millie is survived by 2 daughters: Kay (Fred) Digmann of Hazel Green, WI and Victoria (Vicky) French of Dubuque, IA; 2 grandchildren: Julie (Casey) Kuepers of Dubuque, IA and Steven (Brittany) Digmann of Menominee Falls, WI; a very special Great granddaughter, Georgia Marie Francis Kuepers of Dubuque, IA; a niece Mary Jane Davis of Dubuque, IA and several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in her death by her parents, two sons, Charles "C.J." and James "Jim" Schnee, her sisters; Clara Malloy, Caroline (Whitey) Fluor, husband, Bill, Pearl LePert and husband, Frank and Anna Linden; her brothers; William (Bud) Peil, Lester (Lett) Peil wife, Florence, George Peil and his wife Doris and a special niece Isabelle Haudenshield. Our mother will be missed greatly by her family and her friends. In lieu of flowers a Mildred M. Schnee Memorial Fund has been established. We wish to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Heidi Townsend and her terrific staff, especially nurses, Heidi, Doris and Kate, for all the care and kindness they have shown our mother over the past several years.
