Maurice "Maury" L. Allen, 79, of Hazel Green, WI passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at MercyOne Hospital in Dubuque, IA. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 3 rd at the Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City, WI with Pastor Gus Barnes officiating. Burial will be in the St. Michael's Cemetery in Galena, IL. Family and friends may call from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2 nd at the Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City, WI; also on Wednesday, May 3 rd from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. The Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City, WI is serving the family.
Maury was born on October 13, 1943 to Roy & Ann (Bingham) Allen in Elizabeth, IL. He married Jackie L. Bartell on May 26, 1973. She preceded him in death on August 7, 1996. He later married Cheryl K. Knoepfle on May 20, 2008 at the Galena Courthouse in Galena, IL. Maury worked as a custodian for Southwestern Schools for over 32 years and retired on July 1, 2015. He enjoyed camping, an avid card player, riding horses, but most of all, he enjoyed time spent with his grandkids, family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Maury is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Cheryl, of Hazel Green, WI; 2 children: Michael (Kelly) Allen and Jeannie (Brian) Reed both of Hazel Green, WI; 2 step-children: Rusty (Janae) Guay of Cedar Falls, IA and Michelle (Vince) Carini of Franklin, WI; 12 grandchildren: Keaton (Mariah) Kephart, Jalyn Kephart, Tytan Kephart, Peerson Kephart, Cooper Allen, Maggie Allen, Gianna Carini, Dominic Carini, Lynden Allen, Kinslee Allen, Breckon Nichols & Aubrielle Nichols; 2 great-grandchildren: Dayson & Blakelee Kephart; a brother, Bill (Cheryl) Allen of Dubuque, IA; 2 sisters-in-law: Sandy Allen & Cheryl Allen; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Jackie, 2 brothers: Ronald & Donnie Allen, 2 sisters, Betty & Nancy Jo Allen and a son-in-law, Gregory Kephart.
In lieu of plants & flowers a Maurice L. "Maury" Allen Memorial Fund has been established.
