Mary Ellen Watson, 77, of Lancaster, WI, formerly of Hazel Green & Cuba City, WI, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2014 at Grant Regional Health Care Center in Lancaster, WI. Services will be at 11:30 on Friday, January 24th at the United Methodist Church in Hazel Green, WI with Pastor Brenda Whitfort officiating. Burial will be at the Hazel Green Cemetery in Hazel Green, WI. Friends may call from 10am until the time of service on Friday, January 24th at the church. The Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cuba City, WI is serving the family. Mary Ellen was born on June 5, 1936 to Raymond & Elenor (Schwartz) Hirst in Beloit, WI. She was a graduate from Hazel Green High School. She married Robert T. Watson on Feb. 19, 1955 in Galena, IL. She was very active within the church community and taught Sunday school at the United Methodist Church in Cuba City, WI. Mary Ellen enjoyed quilting, crocheting and gardening, but most of all time spent with her family and friends. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Mary Ellen is survived by her children: Steven (Stacey)Watson; Anita Shea both of Lancaster, WI and Robert G. Watson of Atlanta, GA; 6 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, JoAnn Hirst, along with nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert (Aug. 4, 1995); a daughter, Pam Sickles; a son, David Watson; 3 brothers: Dick, Jerry & Raymond "Serg." and a sister, Kathleen Kruser. In lieu of flowers a Mary Ellen Watson Memorial Fund has been established.
