Mary Joanne Hirst, 85, of Hazel Green, WI passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Epione Pavilion in Cuba City, WI. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 19 ^th at the United Methodist Church in Hazel Green, WI, with Pastor Roy Lewis officiating. Burial will be in the Hazel Green Cemetery in Hazel Green, WI. Friends may call on Monday, March 18 ^th from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Haudenshield Funeral Home in Cuba City, WI and on Tuesday, March 19 ^th from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church.

Joanne was born on October 23, 1933 to Raymond & Hildred (Scadden) Simmons in Hazel Green, WI. She married Richard Hirst on October 5, 1953 in Hazel Green, WI. She graduated from Hazel Green High School and attended Bayless Business College in Dubuque. Joanne worked as a bookkeeper for the Village of Hazel Green and Southwestern Schools in Hazel Green, WI. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed crafts, painting and golf.  Joanne was a very kind and caring person and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Joanne is survived by son, Tim Hirst of Hazel Green, WI, daughter, Janann Powers-Hefner of Sherman, TX, granddaughter, Victoria Powers, great-grandson, Lincoln Allen Escontrias, niece Karol Kolbe and nephews Karl Kolbe, Dick Simmons and Lyle Simmons.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard, daughter Debbie, brothers Hank and Luverne Simmons, sister Eileen Kolbe and nephew Jim Kolbe.

In lieu of plants & flowers a Mary Joanne Hirst Memorial Fund has been established.
