Mary Bernadette "Bernie" Kisting, 83, of Cuba City, WI passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Epione Pavilion in Cuba City, WI. A private family service will be held at a later date. The Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City, WI is serving the family. Bernadette was born on January 15, 1932, the 3rd child of Edmund & Isabel (Hoeper) Kisting. She grew up on the family farm with an older brother and 5 younger siblings, to whom she provided loving care- all of her life. Bernadette attended Carr School and graduated valedictorian from Benton High School in 1950. She received her nursing education from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Dubuque, IA. Later, she received her BSN from UW-Madison and her MSN from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. Her nursing career began in Highland Park, IL; from there her nursing career took her to Madison and Milwaukee, WI and Omaha, NE. She was an excellent clinician and nurse educator. Bernadette enjoyed gardening, traveling, cooking and was a fan of the Badgers, Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Bernadette is survived by 2 brothers: Edwin Kisting of Cuba City, WI & Raymond Kisting of Madison, WI; 2 sisters: Rita (Bill) Sparks of Eau Claire, WI and Monica Staudacher of Greendale, WI; nieces, Sheila (Andy) Hoffmann of San Juan Capistrano, CA, Stacy (Kevin Brady) Sparks, nephew, Patrick (Jill) Staudacher, 7 grand-nieces & nephews: Grant, Marriott & Callum Hoffmann, Blake, Dean & Reid Staudacher and Declan Brady. She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers, Clarence and Donald, an infant sister, Helen, and a nephew, Steven Sparks. The family thanks the Hospice of Dubuque nurses and the caregivers at Epione Pavilion for their compassionate care. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity of one's choice in Bernadette's name.
