Obituary

Margaret Jane Bruun, 94, of Hazel Green, WI, formerly of Cuba City, WI passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at Manor Care Nursing Home in Platteville, WI. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 23rd at the Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City, WI; burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Shullsburg, WI. Friends may call on Saturday, July 23rd from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. The Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City, WI is serving the family.

Jane was born on July 9, 1922, in Grant County, WI to Herman and Victoria (Sutton) Wedige. She married Winton Haffele on Nov. 18, 1939 and worked beside him on the family dairy farm near Shullsburg, WI until retirement at which point Jane and Winton moved to Shullsburg. Winton passed away in July 10, 1986. Following fourteen years of widowhood, Jane married Elmer Bruun in 2000 and resided with him in Cuba City, WI until his death in 2007. Jane moved to Hazel Green in 2009 and then to Platteville in 2014 where she resided at Manor Care.

Jane was devoted to family, loyal to her friends and valued hard work. She was a resourceful person, who loved cooking, baking, canning and country music. Jane was an active and proud member of Unit #105 American Legion Auxiliary for many years. She volunteered countless hours of service as a member of the "bag ladies" group who tirelessly worked to serve the needs of veterans and community members. At one point, her service resulted in recognition as "Volunteer of the Year." She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Jane is survived by her daughter; Shirley Harty of Portage, grandchildren, Jane (John-Marc) Bilezikian of Wheaton, IL, Matt Harty of Madison and great-grandson, John-Michel Bilezikian, sister, Mary Hying of Belmont, WI.; brother, Melvin (Carmen) Wedige of San Antonio, TX and many nephews, nieces and extended family.

She was preceded in death by parents; husbands; Winton and Elmer, grand-daughter, Sally Harty, son-in-law, Mick Harty, brothers, Herman Wedige Jr., "Bud" Wedige; Jerome "Jerry" Wedige, Eugene Wedige, sisters, Katherine
Boatman, Sister Victoria Wedige, Eleanor McGinnis and Wilma Gentry.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the United Methodist Church in Cuba City, WI. The family wishes to extend their appreciation to St. Croix Hospice.
