Lucina M. Stangl, 100, of Hazel Green, WI, an angel in life was taken home to her Heavenly Father on Friday April 30, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, IA. Services will be at 11am on Wednesday May 5, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sinsinawa, WI, with Father Cy Weisensel officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8pm on Tuesday May 4, 2010 at the Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City, WI and on Wednesday at 10am till time of service at the church.
Lucina was born on January 10, 1910 to Herman and Catherine (Berning) Placke in Sinsinawa, WI. She graduated from St. Clara's Academy in 1927. She was employed for four years in Milwaukee, WI at Jack's Letter Co. She married Henry Stangl on May 22, 1934. She worked in housekeeping for 20 years at the Sinsinawa Mound and resided with her sister Marion for 37 years in Hazel Green, WI.
Lucina is survived by a sister, Marion Placke; a son, David (Evelyn) Stangl; six grandchildren: George (Sherri) Stangl, Jerry (Mary) Stangl, Lori (Jim) Mainguth, Steven (Lori) Stangl, Glen (Dana) Stangl, and Dr. Marie Stangl; 19 great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Henry (June 30, 1936), five sisters: Sister Georgiana (Evelyn) Placke, O.P., Mary Clara Placke, Clara Budden, Rose Pastoret and Florence Droessler; and five brothers: Leo, Henry, Francis, William and Benedict Placke.
In lieu of flowers a Lucina M. Stangl Memorial Fund has been established.
