Lon W. Weber, 93, of Winston-Salem, NC, formerly of Cuba City, WI, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2026. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 18th at the Cuba City United Methodist Church in Cuba City, WI, with Paster Carter Jorgensen officiating. Burial with military honors accorded will be in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Cuba City, WI. Family and friends may call on Saturday, April 18th from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. The Haudenshield Funeral Home & Crematory in Cuba City, WI is serving the family.

Lon was born in Hazel Green, WI the son of Otto and Olive (Gill) Weber whose home was just down the road in Cuba City. He was the second of the Weber's seven children that eventually included sister, Marsha and five brothers: Jack, Norm, Reg, Lee, and Dave. Otto ran a grocery store and then formed Weber's Processing providing high quality meats and sausages to families and businesses of southwestern Wisconsin. Otto's early death threw the reins of the business into the hands of Lon's brothers at a young age. Together they brought the business forward where today it still thrives. Lon held immense pride and respect for his brothers' work and their successes.

Lon's path took him away from Cuba City, but not before he set an WIAA basketball tourney record for sinking nine consecutive free throws. The record stood from 1949-55 when the five-foul bonus rule was implemented. He enlisted in the Army and after returning from Korea, he married Judy Jones in 1954. He took up teaching high school science and coaching baseball, Judy taught elementary school. Lon headed to Madison for graduate school on the GI Bill and wrapped up his doctorate. He joined central administration of the University of Wisconsin and was posted to a number of the system's campuses before heading out to academia in Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, and Nebraska. In 1990, Lon and Judy relocated to Washington DC to wrap up their careers; Lon at the national headquarters of the American Red Cross and in Valley Forge at the Freedoms Foundation. Judy at Seaton Elementary School in the SE district. They retired in 1999 to Williamsburg, VA from where Lon continued to serve on the board of Shriners Children's Hospital-Philadelphia. Judy died in 2020 and a bit later Lon moved to Winston-Salem, NC.

A 33rd Degree Mason, Lon embraced the rigor and fellowship of the craft, he was initiated in the Olive Branch Lodge, New Diggings, WI. After moving to Winston-Salem, he connected with the Winston-Salem Valley and was thrilled to meet George Kalamaras who introduced him to the Lodge and helped make meaningful his final years as a Mason.

Lon is survived by his children, Kurt Roland (Leah), Winston-Salem, NC; Paula Gill Gilfoil (Tom), St. Louis, MO; and Bradley James (Stephanie), West Chester, PA. Brother: Norman (Jeanette), Cuba City, WI; sisters-in-law: Carol Weber and Lynda Weber, both of Cuba City, WI and Janice Lee of Rewey, WI; brothers-in-law: Bill Hamilton, Cuba City, WI and Richard Jones, Bellingham, WA; ten grandchildren; and, seven great-grandchildren.
