Lester T. Wallis, 90, of Dubuque, IA passed away on Thursday December 23, 2010 at Manor Care Nursing Home in Dubuque, IA surrounded by his family and loved ones. Services will be 11am on Monday, December 27 at Mueller Memorial Chapel at Linwood Cemetery in Dubuque, IA. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 10am till time of service at Mueller Memorial Chapel at Linwood Cemetery, Dubuque, IA. The Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City, WI is serving the family. Lester was born on April 22, 1920 to Adolph and Barbara (Bechen) Wallis in Dubuque, IA. He graduated from Columbia Academy in 1939. He married Jean M. Koch on May 23, 1956 in Dubuque, IA. He worked for Molo Oil Company for over 30 years, and retired in 1977. He then worked as a security guard for 25 years at the Dubuque Regional Airport and the CyCare Building. Lester enjoyed fishing, jigsaw puzzles, was a fan of the Chicago Cubs & Bears, along with the Iowa Hawkeyes. Lester is survived by his wife Jean; three sons: Paul L. Wallis of Kingsport, TN, David (Deborah) E. Wallis and Thomas J. Wallis both of Dubuque, IA; 4 granddaughters: Dana (Jason) Flogel of West Des Moines, IA, Sarah (Jason) Heitkamp of East Dubuque, IL, Meghan Wallis of West Des Moines, IA and Bobbi Jo Wallis of Platteville, WI; a grandson: Jonathan Wallis of Kingsport, TN; two great grandchildren; a sister Lorraine Winner of Waterloo, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Mary. In lieu of flowers a Lester T. Wallis Memorial Fund has been established.
