Obituary

Leona Mae "Smokey" Hillary, 90, of Hazel Green, WI passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Epione Pavilion, Cuba City, WI. Services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, October 17th at the United Methodist Church in Hazel Green, WI. Burial will be in the Hazel Green Cemetery in Hazel Green, WI. Friends may call on Friday, October 16th from 3:00pm-7:00pm at the Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City, WI and on Saturday, October 17th from 10:00am until time of service at the church. Smokey was born on March 15, 1925 to Leonard & Martha (Faulkner) Kirk in Louisburg, WI. She attended Cuba City High School. She married Raymond "Wayne" Hillary on January 9, 1943 in Kahoka, MO. While Wayne served in Germany during WWII, she worked at the Savanna Army Depot in Savanna, IL. Smokey was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hazel Green, WI and the American Legion Women's Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling, trips going to the casinos and time spent with her friends, family and especially her grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Smokey is survived by her loving husband Raymond "Wayne" Hillary; 5 daughters: Mary(Tom) Robson, Ruth (David) Shelliam, Martha Ring, all of Hazel Green, WI, Rose (Kevin) Kunkel of Jenks, OK and Melanie (John) Sobie of Stoughton, WI; a son, Robert (Cindy) Hillary of Hanover, IL; 13 grandchildren: John (Renee) Robson of Cross Plains, WI, Rod (Lynee) Robson of Cuba City, WI, Hillary (Eric) McAuliffe of Hazel Green, WI, Andy(Marci) Robson of Apple River, IL, Dennis (Kristin) Shelliam, Doug (friend, Amber Rury) Shelliam, Danny (Kristi) Shelliam all of Hazel Green, WI, Justin Sobie of Wichita, KS, Sheila (Matt) Stephens of Platteville, WI, Kayla (fiancée Nevada Marty) Ring of Kieler, WI, Rich (Rachel) Hillary of Monroe, WI Josh (Beth) Kunkel of Tulsa, OK and Joe (friend, CJ Morrison) Kunkel of Norman, OK; 20 great grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 6 step great-grandchildren; along with sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, Raymond, 5 brothers: Melvin, Clarence, Gordon, Cliff and Leonard, a sister, Doris Kowalski, a son-in-law: David Ring and 2 infant grandchildren, Theresa and David Farrey. In lieu of flowers a Leona Mae "Smokey" Hillary Memorial Funds has been established.
