Larry Joe Crabtree, 70, of Leadmine, WI, passed away December 20, 2012, after suffering his seventh heart attack. He died like he wanted--fast and at home. Services will be at 1pm on Monday, December 24th at the Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City, WI, with Pastor Rod Johnson officiating. Burial will be at the United Methodist Church Cemetery, Benton, WI. Friends may call from 10:30am until time of service on Monday at the Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services, on Monday. Larry was born on July 8, 1942, in a small Oklahoma town called Picher. He graduated from Benton High School in 1960. He was united in marriage to Sandy Stephenson on July 7, 1962. They recently celebrated their 50th Anniversary. Over the years, Larry worked in a factory, farmed, drove ore truck for Ernie Mowry, worked at a chemical plant and drove semi. His chemical plant friends were very special to him, right to the end. Thanks to all of you loyal men. He was a 25yr. member of the S.W. Izaak Walton League, where he once served as President and was serving as the Chapter Rep to the State Division. Currently, he was serving on the State Division Board as a Director. Surviving is his wife, Sandy, of Leadmine; a daughter, Deb Crabtree-Runde (Craig) of Cuba City; a grand-daughter, Shayna Crabtree (Howie Anderson); 2 sisters: Letha Jean (Addison) Snyder & Barbara Testroet; 2 brothers: Carl (Judy) Crabtree & Richard (Marene) Crabtree; 2 godsons: Beau Herbst and Mike Cliff. And lets not forget his little Chihuahua buddy, Joey Chicago. Larry was preceded in death by his 2 sons: Larry Dean (1963-1969) & Shawn Paul (1970-1971); his parents, Florence & Orval Crabtree Sr.; 2 brothers: Harold (JoNell) Bird, Orville Crabtree Jr. & several nieces & nephews. The family requests no flowers. A Larry J. Crabtree Memorial Fund has been established. Larry's family would like to extend their thanks to the Benton First Responders and Hazel Green Ambulance crew, Dr. Khan and all those who cared for him at Finley Hospital.
