Kenneth O. Wildes, 95, of Cuba City, WI passed away on Friday, November 8, 2024 at St. Dominic Villa in Sinsinawa, WI. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 14th at the Haudenshield Funeral Home & Crematory in Cuba City, WI, with Pastor Carter Jorgensen officiating. Burial with military honors accorded will be in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Cuba City, WI. Family and friends may call on Thursday, November 14th from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. The Haudenshield Funeral Home & Crematory in Cuba City, WI is serving the family.
Ken was born on January 18, 1929 to Vincent & Esther (Martin) Wildes in Glendale, WI. He married Shirley Mae Smith on August 27, 1950 in Minneapolis, MN. He worked for over 40 years in plumbing & heating with Kilkelly-Jones. He was a US Army veteran and a member of the Cuba City VFW Post #8318. He was also a member of the Cuba City United Methodist Church. Ken was a great handyman, ready to fix anything for anyone. He also enjoyed reading, puzzles and music and singing along with Andy Williams, but most of all, he enjoyed time spent with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Ken is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Shirley; a daughter, Sharon (Phil) Young of West Branch, IA; 4 sons: David (Donna) Wildes of West Des Moines, IA, Tim (Noreen) Wildes of Benton, WI, Mike (Laurie) Wildes DeWitt, IA & Jeff Wildes of Platteville, WI; 7 grandchildren: Sarah (Zachary) Zaffis, Katie (Adam) Gebhart, Amanda (fiancé, C.J.) Wildes, Abby Kampe, Crystal (Sean Webb) Wildes, Elizabeth Wildes & Erica Wildes; 9 great-grandchildren; a brother, Carl Wildes; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 8 siblings: LeRoy (Helen) Wildes, Don (Maude) Wildes, Robert Wildes, Vivian (Ed) Michaels, Bill (Bea) Wildes, an infant sister, Ethel Wildes, Alice (Roger) Starkey and Clarence (Deetjie) Wildes; and a grandson, Brian Traeger.
In lieu of plants & flowers a Kenneth O. Wildes Memorial Fund has been established.
The family wishes to thank Agrace Hospice and St. Domonic Villa for their loving care of Ken & his family.
