Kathie was born on February 1, 1952, in Dubuque, IA, to Russell and Doris (Schuler) Selchert. She was raised in Dubuque and graduated from Dubuque Senior High School.

Kathie worked at Dubuque Orthodontics for over 40 years, where she served as office manager.

On October 28, 1994, Kathie married Randy Thor, and together they made their home in Cuba City, WI. She cherished her family and took great pride in the life they built together.

Kathie and Randy shared a love for traveling to Crystal River, FL, where they made yearly trips for over 30 years. In 2011, they purchased a home there and began spending more time in Florida, eventually wintering there. Kathie especially enjoyed visiting flea markets, the Strawberry Festival, and the Manatee Festival with visiting cousins. Kathie also enjoyed going to Bingo with all the cousins and neighbors. Yearly fishing trips to Danbury, WI, were also a favorite activity and a cherished tradition; along with traveling to car shows with Randy.

She will be remembered for her kindness, quiet strength, and caring nature. Kathie valued time spent with her family above all else and especially loved being a grandmother. She often shared her love with her grandchildren by saying, "I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck" and "I love you to the moon and back."

She is survived by her husband, Randy; her stepdaughters: Alison (Bobby) Kagan of Chandler, AZ, and Megan (Tom) Schiffer of Overland Park, KS; and her grandchildren: Katelynn and Connor Kagan, and Leo and Sienna Schiffer. She is also survived by four sisters: Marilyn (Don) Steinhoff of Cuba City, WI, Sharon (Dennis) Sweet of Louisburg, WI, Jacque (Pat) Engling of Dubuque, IA, and Carrie (Joe) Mauss of Sherrill, IA; and three brothers: Steve (Judy) Selchert and John (Chris) Selchert, both of Dubuque, IA, and Rob (Cindy) Selchert of Aberdeen, MD; a sister-in-law,  Arlene Selchert; as well by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Larry Selchert, and her niece, Jodie Metcalf.
