Obituary

Joseph "Bill" W. Thompson, 76, passed away on Thursday September 30, 2010 at the Southwest Health Center Nursing Home in Cuba City, WI. Services will be at 11am on Monday October 4, 2010 at the Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City, WI, with Pastor Debbie Pimm officiating. Burial will be at the Shawnee Cemetery in New Diggings, WI. Friends may call on Sunday October 3, 2010 from 4-8pm at the Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services and on Monday 10am till time of service at the funeral home.

Joseph was born on May 26, 1934 to Clifford and Marion (Morrison) Thompson in New Diggings, WI. He attended New Diggings Schools and graduated from Shullsburg High School, and attended UW-Platteville College. He married Mary Ann Slater on November 5, 1955 in Cedar Rapids, IA. He works at John Deere Dubuque Works in Dubuque, IA and retired in 1994 after 33 years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Cuba City, WI. Joseph enjoyed collecting John Deere toy tractors and classic model cars; but most of all, time spent with family and friends.

Joseph is survived by his wife Mary Ann Thompson; a daughter, Christine Ann(Gary) Gilbert of Hazel Green, WI; a granddaughter, Angela Renne (Kevin) Esser, great grandchildren, Kendell and Mackenzie Esser of Glen Haven, WI; grandson, Ryan Patrick (Melissa) Gilbert, great grandchildren, Alexia Rose Loeffelholz and Ava Anne Gilbert of East Dubuque, IL; two sisters: Mary Colin of Dubuque, IA and Kate(Roger) Wandschneider, AZ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, David Thompson and a sister Anna J. Robbins.

In lieu of flowers a Joseph "Bill" W. Thompson Memorial Fund has been established.
