Obituary

Joseph P. Casper, 92, of Cuba City, WI passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2014 at Manor Care Nursing Home in Platteville, WI. Services will be at 10:30am on Thursday, July 10th at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with Father David Flanagan officiating. Burial with military rites accorded will be in the St. Rose Cemetery in Cuba City, WI. Friends may call on Wed. July 9th from 4pm-7pm at the Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City, WI and on Thurs. July 10th from 9:30am until time of service at the church. A parish wake service will be held at 3:50pm on Wed. at the funeral home. Joe was born on July 11, 1921 to William & Elizabeth (Cass) Casper in Benson, MN. He married Viola M. Rousch on Nov. 12, 1946 in Cuba City, WI. He farmed his entire life in the Cuba City area. Joe was a WWII Army Veteran. He was a chairman on the Paris Township and a member of the St. Rose Knights of Columbus. Joe enjoyed old westerns, working with auctions, working on machinery, but most of all, time spent with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Joe is survived by 2 daughters: Karen (John) Horst of West Bend, WI and Lynn (Gary) Bell of Platteville, WI; 4 sons: Merrell (Lois) Casper and Philip (Julie) Casper both of Cuba City, WI, Dennis Casper of Hazel Green, WI and David (Janet) Casper of Brookings, SD; 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Viola (Dec. 15, 2012) and 2 sons, Jerome & Paul. In lieu of flowers a Joseph P. Casper Memorial Fund has been established.
