John E. Morgan, 81, of Dubuque, IA, formerly of Hazel Green, WI passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, December 15, 2015. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, December 21st with military honors to follow at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Hazel Green, WI, with Father Ken Frisch officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Friends may call on Monday, December 21st from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. The

John was born on June 17, 1934 to Daniel & Veronica (Saam) Morgan in Seymour Township of Shullsburg, WI. He was a graduate of Shullsburg High School. John was a Korean Army Veteran. He married Janice Stanke on August 18, 1962 in Madison, WI. He was the founder of Morgan Clock Company in Dubuque, IA in 1969 and worked for over 31 years at John Deere Dubuque Works in Dubuque, IA. He was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, Order of Blue Nose, Transportation Corps. and Greenland 1953-1954. John enjoyed working and repairing clocks and watches of all sizes and antique restorations, workshop projects, boating, casino visits and was an avid fan of the Wisconsin Badgers and Green Bay Packers. John was a true friend to anyone he met and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
John is survived by his wife, Janice of Dubuque, IA; 3 sons: Daniel (Rhonda) Morgan of Dubuque, IA, James (Rosalie) Morgan of Platteville, WI and William (Janice) Morgan of Dubuque, IA; 3 granddaughters: Samantha (Justin) Byers of Madison, WI, Billi (Kevin McGinnis) Morgan of Colorado Springs, CO and Mary Woodward of Dubuque, IA; 2 grandsons: Andrew (Brandi) Morgan of Dubuque, IA and Adam Morgan of Decorah, IA; a great grandson, Lennon McGinnis; a brother-in-law, Bob Noonan; a sister-in-law, Odella Woodworth; along with nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Richard and a sister, Vivian Noonan .
In lieu of flowers a John E. Morgan Memorial Funds has been established.
