John “Jack” C. Pitzen, 83, of Dickeyville, WI passed away on Monday, October 26, 2026. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 7th at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Dickeyville, WI, with Fr. Joseph Bellamkonda officiating. Burial will follow in the Holy Ghost Church Cemetery in Dickeyville, WI. Family & friends may call on Saturday, November 7th from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. The Haudenshield Funeral Home & Crematory in Cuba City, WI is serving the family.

Jack was born on August 8, 1943 to Edward & Margaret (Richter) Pitzen in Platteville, WI. He graduated from 8th grade at Rockville, WI and in 1962 from Potosi High School. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Sharon A. Schiffman on August 1, 1964 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Dickeyville, WI. Together they raised 3 sons: Dale, Mark & Bryan. Jack worked for over 45 years as a machinist at John Deere Dubuque Works in Dubuque, IA, and retired on March 31, 2009.

He was a member of the Holy Ghost Catholic Church, and the UAW Local 94. Jack had a remarkable talent for woodworking and took great pride in his craftsmanship. Among his many beautiful creations were the kitchen cabinets he handcrafted for his home and the lovely curio cabinets he built to display Sharon’s cherished hummingbird and Precious Moments collections. He also lovingly crafted countless treasured gifts for his family. A true craftsman with an exceptional eye for detail, Jack poured his heart into every piece he created, leaving behind beautiful reminders of his talent and love for his family.

Jack enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, playing cards, playing bingo, country music, rooting for the Wisconsin Badgers & Green Bay Packers; but most of all, he enjoyed time spent with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Jack is survived by 3 sons: Dale (Denise) Pitzen of Beloit, WI, Mark (Michelle) Pitzen of Mount Horeb, WI & Bryan Pitzen of Verona, WI; 2 grandsons: Gabriel and Collin Pitzen; a granddaughter, Sierra Pitzen; 2 brothers: James Pitzen & David (Emily) Pitzen, both of Lancaster, WI, 2 sisters: Diane (David) Splinter of Dickeyville, WI & Carol (Robert) Weber of Manhattan, KS; a sister-in-law, Barb Thompson of Lancaster, WI; also by a very special nephew and his wife, Dennis & Pam Pearce of Hazel Green, WI.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 56 years, Sharon (May 14, 2021), a sister, Janet (Butch) Timmerman, a brother, Joseph Pitzen, and a sister-in-law, Pauline Pitzen.

In lieu of plants & flowers a John “Jack” C. Pitzen Memorial Fund has been established.
