Obituary

Joanne Marie Whittemore, 74, of Cuba City, WI passed away on Friday, January 1, 2010 at Manor Care Health Center, Platteville, WI. Services will be on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at 1 p.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church in Cuba City, WI with Pastor Denise Anderson Officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Cuba City, WI. Friends may call from 11 am until time of service at Faith Lutheran Church. The Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cuba City is assisting the family.

Joanne was born on October 22, 1935 in Beloit, WI, daughter of Melvin and Nellie (McGillen) Cobb. She attended Beloit Memorial High School. Joanne married Fred E. Whittemore on February 14, 1954 in Beloit, WI. She drove bus for many years for the Stratton Bus Co. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Cuba City, she enjoyed home decorating, crocheting, knitting, and she was an avid reader and enjoyed shopping and cheering on the Cubs. Joanne loved to travel and time spent with family and friends. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Joanne is survived by: her husband, Fred E. Whittemore of Cuba City, WI, five daughters: Cheryl Denman and Laurie (Mel) Kreul both of Cuba City, WI., Terri (Jim) Allison and Machelle Whittemore both of San Diego, CA ,Cindy (Tim) Hocking of Highland, WI; 2 sisters: Helen Fiorucci of Beloit, WI and Sarah Fiorucci of Machesney Park, IL , 2 sister-in-laws: Betty Christianson of Beloit, WI and Beverly Likes of Oakdale, MN; 5 grandchildren: Tyson Hocking, Joleen Hocking, Cari Johnson, Holly Denman, Sarah Allison; 5 step grandchildren: Becky Fellenzer, Kenneth Kruel, Jamie Tighe, Tracie Fletcher, Michael Allison; 3 great-grandchildren and 6 step great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Doris and two brother-in-laws.

In lieu of flowers a Joanne M. Whittemore Memorial Fund has been established.
