Obituary

Joanne Kirk, age 80, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The Haudenshield Funeral Home & Crematory in Cuba City, WI is serving the family.

Born on January 31, 1946, Joanne was a remarkable woman whose warmth, kindness, and devotion to her family defined her life. While our mother was not perfect, nobody could deny her massive heart. She was a blast to be around, known for her colorful personality, her contagious laugh, and her ability to light up a room. If you wanted to make her smile, all you had to do was put on Elvis and start dancing. She taught us how to love fiercely, and we will miss her every single day.

Joanne married Ron Kirk on July 23, 1994, in Dubuque, Iowa. It was one of the happiest days of her life. She was a deeply loving wife, mother, and sister, always putting the people she cared about first. Besides being passionate about her family, she loved truck driving with her husband, Ron, working at Burger King and taking care of furry friends – rescue or adopted. Her favorite furry friends being her best friends, Charlie the Cat and Molly the Dog. Oh, the stories she could tell!

She is survived by her three children: daughters, Lisa (Ken) Kaiser of Cuba City, WI,  Christine (Alan) Runde of Dickeyville, WI, and her son, David Droessler of Dubuque, IA. Joanne was the proud grandmother of six grandchildren: Wells Kaiser, Alix (Kyle) Huseman, Riley Kaiser (Karissa), Tyler (Amanda) Runde, Travis Runde, and Hannah Runde. She was also blessed with five great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life: Braelynn, Everly, Croix, Gauge and Cayden; as well as a new great-granddaughter, who is eagerly anticipated to arrive this August; Four Step-Children: Rhonda (Chet) Knake of Bellevue, IA, Steve (Sarah) Kirk of East Dubuque, IL, Scott Kirk of Stillwater, MN, and Robin Schaller of Dubuque, IA; 13 Step-Grandchildren, and 6 Great-Step Grandchildren. She is further survived by her siblings: Rocky (Guerdon) Fowler, Bob (Cindy) Staley, and Charles Coogan, along with many extended family members and dear friends.

Preceded in death by her brother's Jerry Clauer, and twin brothers Terry and Larry who passed as infants and a grandchild, Tyler Biedermann. Greeting her soul for their next adventure is her beloved husband Ron, and her faithful companion, and "bestest bestest bestest" friend, Charlie the Cat. Ron is undoubtedly saving her a seat at their favorite casino, ready for their next jackpot together.

Joanne's family would like to thank Agrace Hospice (Emily, Elizabeth, Renee, Heather and Brice) for their support and St. Dominic Villa for their wonderful respite care.

In lieu of plants and flowers, donations may be made in honor of her dear cat, Charlie to Purrfection Animal Rescue in Galena, IL or the Dubuque Humane Society.
