Helen D. Loomis, 90, of Hazel Green, WI passed away on Saturday January 1, 2011 at the Southwest Health Care Nursing Home in Cuba City, WI. Services will be 1pm on Wednesday January 5, 2011 at the Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City, WI, with Pastor Ed Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Hazel Green Cemetery in Hazel Green, WI. Friends may call on Wednesday January 5 from 11am till time of service at the funeral home. Helen was born on July 15, 1920 to Carl L. & Edith (Martin) Lorenz in Lancaster, WI. She married Arthur Loomis on May 25, 1946 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Dubuque, IA. She worked as a dietary aid at the Hazel Green Hospital for many years. After retirement she volunteered at Southwestern Elementary School with the preschool children and was the crossing guard and everyone fondly knew her as "Grandma". Helen enjoyed sewing, gardening, crossword puzzles/word seekers, avid card player, family gathering and her beloved cats. But most of all, she played an important role in raising her grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Helen is survived by 3 daughters: Patricia Korn of Hazel Green, WI, Susan Curwen of Kieler, WI, Karen Harbach of Hazel Green, WI; A son Steven (Jean) Loomis of Warren, IL; 17 grandchildren: Julie (Mark) Uthe, Stacey Curwen, Leslie (Tom) Kremer, Kellie (Rob) Cook, Amy (Randy) Dietzel, Michelle (Brad) Banfield, Rachel (Chris) Michaels, , Tina (Wade)Wright, Jennifer (Ray) Speer, Candi Korn (special friend Gary), Melanie Pollock, Matthew Loomis, Wendy Loomis-Cook, Jeannette (Tim) Mehefey, Brett Schwartfeger, Tina (Tony) Grabianowski and Teresa (Wade) Stanfield; 23 great grandchildren, a son-in-law John Curwen, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arthur, 4 sisters: Amelia (Melvin) Wayne, Mabel (Clem) Finn, Hilda Willis and Lydia Lorenz, 2 brothers: Rudy (Mick) Lorenz, Harry (Rosemary) Lorenz, grandson Mark Curwen, 2 son-in-laws: David Korn and John Harbach. In lieu of flowers a Helen D. Loomis Memorial Fund has been established.
