Dr. Harold W. Taylor, Jr., 88, of Milwaukee, WI, formerly of Cuba City, WI passed away on Thursday May 20, 2010 at St. Luke's Hospital in Milwaukee, WI. Services will be at 10:30am on Tuesday May 25, 2010 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Cuba City, WI with Father Flanagan officiating. Burial will be in the St. Rose Cemetery in Cuba City, WI; military rites will accord at the cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8pm on Monday May 24, 2010 at the Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City, WI and on Tuesday from 9:30am till time of service at the church.

Harold Wilford Taylor Jr. was born on March 9, 1922 to Harold Sr. and Louise (Wehlitz) Taylor in Jamestown, North Dakota. After completing officer training at Columbia University in New York City, NY, he served as Naval Navigator of LST-746 in World War II in the Pacific. While attending the two-year medical school at the University of North Dakota, he was married to Alice Mae Lawler and then transferred to complete his doctorate at the University Medical College in Norman, OK. Harold then completed surgical residency at Toledo University Hospital in Toledo, Ohio and moved to Cuba City, WI with his new wife. There he established a medical practice at the new Cuba City Hospital in 1954 and continued to practice there until his retirement in the mid 1980s. In 2003, Harold was awarded a 50 year membership to the Wisconsin State Medical Society. He retired, traveled all over the world and visited his children often over the next twenty years. In the last eight years of his well lived life, he spent winters with his daughter, Louise in Round Rock, TX to escape the extreme cold of the northern winters.

Harold is survived by two daughters: Louise Anne (Rodney) McDaniel, MD and Linda (Marc) Murphy; two sons: John (Nancy) Taylor and Eric Taylor; grandchildren: Andrew (Elizabeth) McDaniel, Thomas and Katherine McDaniel, Garrett Murphy; great-granddaughter Alison.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Alice Lawler Taylor, a son, Harold Taylor III, and his sister Mary Taylor Hendrickson.

In lieu of flowers a Dr. Harold W. Taylor, Jr. Memorial Fund has been established.
