Harold A. Fortney, 98, of Cuba City, WI passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque, IA. Services will be at 5:30pm on Sunday, Aug. 17th at the Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City, WI, with Rev. Calvin Hughes officiating. Friends may call on Sunday, Aug. 17th from 3pm-5:30pm at the Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City, WI. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Harold was born on Sept. 7, 1915 to Elmer & Agnes (Classon) Fortney in Soldiers Grove, WI. He married Lois L. Seegler on June 6, 1956 at the United Methodist Church in Cuba City, WI. Together they owned and operated H&L Café, Prairie Corners Tavern, The Bronco Inn, The Teen Center and Tri-State Music specializing in vending and amusement games and retired in 1984. Harold enjoyed going to car shows, playing cards and going to dances; after learning to dance at the "young" age of 93! He and Lois loved to travel, but their greatest joy was spoiling their grandkids and watching them play sports and supporting Cuba City Athletics. He especially loved these past few months with his great grandson, George. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Harold is survived by his daughter, Nila Wallenhorst (special friend, Scott Derby) of Cuba City, WI; 4 grandchildren: Derek Wallenhorst, Danielle (Jay) McQuade, Katie Wallenhorst and Nathan Wallenhorst; a great grandson, George McQuade. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Lois (July 7, 2009) and a brother, Victor Fortney. In lieu of flowers a memorial may be given to the Cuba City Community Center.
