Betty was born on May 21, 1928, on a farm near Plain, WI, the daughter of John J. and Rose M. (Hetzel) Lins. She was united in marriage to Donald Brokish on November 8, 1950. Betty's strong faith in God was the most important thing in her life. She was an active member of the Christian Mothers at Holy Ghost Parish, and a member of the parish prayer chain. Her kind and generous nature is evidenced by sharing her home with disadvantaged children from Mississippi and always delivering fresh bakery to people who were going through difficult times in their life.

Betty worked as a school cook at Holy Ghost School where she was famous for her homemade bread, donuts, and cinnamon rolls. Every week Betty & Don baked 200 cinnamon rolls, 200 pies, 150 packages of pecan rolls, 200 packages of cookies, along with many other wonderful baked items and then sold them at Dubuque Farmers Market, where they were a favorite. In their retirement, Betty and Don enjoyed fishing, traveling, gardening, and card playing. She enjoyed her weekly lunches and card games at the Senior Center and her "Ladies Lunch Bunch." Betty always said that her greatest accomplishment and what gave her the most pride were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Her children are Stephen (Linda) Brokish of Lodi, WI; William (Alice) Brokish of Humble, TX; Susan (John) Reiss of Stratham, NH; James (Marcia) Brokish of Fort Collins, CO; Diane Brokish of Olathe, KS; Joan (Daniel) Folwarski of Wausau, WI; Karen (Tony) Vacha of Plover, WI; Julie (John) Burbank of Rosemont, MN; Theresa Brokish of Platteville, WI; and Marie Brokish of Green Bay, WI. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren are Elizabeth (Brett) Kressin [Ryleigh and Jackson], John (Candice) Brokish [Bradley and Derek], Jessica (Darrell) Burditt [McIntyre and Lucas], Andrew (Heather) Brokish [Harlow], Rebecca Brokish, William Reiss (Deceased), Kim (Joe) LaPerrier [Lucas and Logan], Sarah (James) Hockman [Oliver, Simon, and Vera], Michael (Heather) Reiss [Will], Kevin (Annie) Brokish, Julie (Phil Huss) Brokish, Katie Brokish, Jennifer Ngelale (Deceased), PJ Ngelale, Ajuri Ngelale [AJ and Elijah], Elera Williams, Jason (Katie) Folwarski [Johanna], Laura Folwarski, Ashley (Sam) Gardner, Missy Vacha (Erin Gunn), Alexander Vacha, Stephanie (Ryan) Osendorf [Carson and Landon], Cassie Burbank (Jeff Weilage), and Christopher Brokish.
