Edward J. Updike, 65, of Cuba City, WI passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2015, at Southwest Health Center, in Platteville, WI. Services with military honors accorded will be at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21st at the Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City, WI with Pastor Dan Verdegan officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at the Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City, WI. A celebration of life gathering will be held after the service from 5:00 p.m.-8:00p.m. at Banfield's Swiss House in Cuba City, WI. Ed was born on August 27, 1950 to Eldon & Marlene (Moran) Updike in Boscobel, WI. He was a graduate of Cuba City High School and UW Platteville. He was a US Marine veteran and a member of the Cuba City VFW Post #8318. Ed married Carol A. Booth on January 11, 1970 in Cuba City, WI. He worked for Tri State Tours in Galena, IL and Tricor Insurance in Lancaster, WI. Ed was an avid sports fan. He loved cheering for the Wisconsin Badgers, the Green Bay Packers, and any team his kids were coaching. He also enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and telling stories, and he had a great sense of humor. Most of all, he enjoyed time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Ed is survived by his wife, Carol; two sons: "Uppy" Erin (Carissa) Updike of Sun Prairie, WI, Troy (Emily) Updike of Cuba City, WI; a daughter: Cameo Updike of Cuba City, WI; six grandchildren: Ethan, Alexys, Caden, Derrick, Cole & Keeton; a sister, Jean (Tom) Lilley of Cuba City, WI; a brother, John (Amy) Updike of Las Vegas, NV; along with brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of flowers an Edward J. Updike Memorial Fund has been established.
