Doris Slaats, 93, of Cuba City, WI passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 13th at the Haudenshield Funeral Home & Crematory in Cuba City, WI; with Fr. Kenneth Frisch officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Francis de Sales Church Cemetery in Hazel Green, WI. Family & friends may call on Sunday, September 13th from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. The Haudenshield Funeral Home & Crematory in Cuba City, WI is serving the family.
Doris was born on February 4, 1933 to Alois & Sarah (Walton) Hollander. She married Merlin J. Slaats on August 27, 1955 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Hazel Green, WI. She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Hazel Green, WI and the Catholic Daughters.
Doris enjoyed bowling, especially competing at the state level, crossword puzzles, and was a life-long fan of the Chicago Bears & Cubs. Her biggest joy was working and raising a family on the farm along with her husband, Merlin.
Doris is survived by 4 children: Randy (Carol) Slaats, Renee (Curt) Taylor, Ron (Laura) Slaats & Lori (Doug) McKinley; 12 grandchildren: Nikki, Jessie, Christy, Jennifer, Blake, Trey, Wyatt, Brittany, Brandon, Bethany, Connor & Ella; 9 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Roger & Mary Slaats; along by nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Merlin (May 28, 2026); a daughter, Debra Jean Slaats (Feb. 4, 2020); 6 siblings: Irene (Paul) Welsh, J. Alois Hollander, Mary (Tommy) Myers, Norman (Monica “Joyce”) Hollander, Naomi (Calvin) Heidenreich & Jeannette Koehn.
In lieu of plants & flowers, a Doris C. Slaats Memorial Fund has been established.
