Charles M. Cross, 80, of Hazel Green, WI, formerly of Dubuque, IA passed away on Monday December 21, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, IA. Memorial services will be 2:30pm on Saturday December 26, 2009 at the United Methodist Church in Hazel Green, WI. Friends may call from 1pm till time of service at the church on Saturday December 26. Burial will be at a later date at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Dubuque, IA. The Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City, WI is serving the family.

Charles was born on March 5, 1929 to Phillip and Clara (Baker) Cross in Dubuque, IA. He married Ruth E. (Raisbeck) Birkett on April 11, 1997. He drove truck for 33 years at Rainbo Oil Co. in Dubuque, IA and retired in 1986. He enjoyed collecting coins, playing Yahtzee, traveling to visit family and watching sports; especially the Iowa Hawkeyes, the Chicago Cubs and the Green Bay Packers. He was an active member of the United Methodist Church, Local 421 Teamsters, church bible study and served on the Pastor Parish Relations Committee. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Charles is survived by four children: Myron (Carol) Cross of Jacksonville, NC, Charles (Lorraine) Cross of Glen Ellyn, IL, Carmen (Chris) Cornelius of Dubuque, IA and Dale (Debbie) Cross of Jacksonville, NC; seven grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ruth (April 15, 2008), two brothers, Phillip and Frank, two sisters Helen and Evelyn.

In lieu of flowers a Charles M. Cross memorial fund has been established.
