Carl J. Mowbray, 81, of Cuba City passed away after a long battle with the curses of Parkinson's and heart disease on Thursday, November 15, 2012, at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg. Services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, November 20th at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Cuba City, WI, with Father David Flanagan officiating. Burial and military rites will be accorded at the St. Rose Cemetery, Cuba City. Friends may call from 9am till the time of service Tuesday, November 20th at the church. The Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cuba City, WI is serving this family. Carl was born in Benton, WI, on February 18, 1931 to parents Thomas and Magdalene Mowbray. His two brothers, Paul and Phillip, preceded him in death. Carl is a Korean War veteran and was discharged in 1951 at the rank of sergeant. He was an active member of the Cuba City VFW post for many years. He married Anita Rose Wright on October 23, 1954, in Cuba City, where they resided and recently celebrated their 58th anniversary. Carl retired from John Deere Dubuque Tractor Works in 1989, where he worked for 32 years. He was a long-time member of Cole Acres Country Club where he scored his one and only hole-in-one. In his free time he also enjoyed bowling, remodeling his home, and playing with his special little buddy, Benji. Carl is survived by his wife, Anita (Tiny), his daughter Carol (Mark) Greenwell, and sons Paul (Julie) and Michael (Lisa), four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Carl's name to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Cuba City, WI. The Mowbray family wants to give special thanks to Julie Mowbray, Kevin Atkinson, Keith Loeffelholz, and the staff at St. Mary's Hospital and Agrace Hospice for the loving care they provided to Carl in his time of need.
