Bernita L. Kaiser, 82, of Hazel Green, WI passed away on Friday, June 8, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Dubuque, IA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 13th at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Hazel Green, WI with Father Kenneth Frisch officiating. Burial will be in the St. Francis de Sales Church Cemetery in Hazel Green, WI. Friends may call on Tuesday, June 12th from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the

in Cuba City, WI and on Wednesday, June 13th from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Hazel Green, WI. A parish wake service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12th at the funeral home. The

Bernita was born on August 16, 1935 to Frank & Evelyn (Hoeger) Steffen in Guttenberg, IA. She married Merlin J. Kaiser on October 18, 1955 in New Melleray, IA. She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and St. Francis de Sales CCW. Bernita enjoyed playing bingo, going out for dinner, fishing, taking trips, crocheting & making blankets for all of her grandchildren, country music, polka, especially Danny O'Donnell, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Bernita is survived by 7 sons: James Kaiser & Allen Kaiser both of Hazel Green, WI, Tom (Julie) Kaiser & Joseph (Carla) Kaiser both of Cuba City, WI, Gerald (Tammy) Kaiser of Benton, WI, Charles (Sherry) Kaiser of Epworth, IA and Todd Kaiser of Madison, WI; 2 daughters: Mary Jo (Tim) Genthe of Cuba City, WI and Debra (Bill) Sargent of Cedar Rapids, IA; 22 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers: Loras (Mary Ann) Steffen and Dave (Eileen) Steffen; a sister: Mary Kay Shanahan, along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Merlin (August 9, 1991), a daughter-in-law, Deb Kaiser, and 4 brothers: Leon, Donnie, Kenny & Elmer.
In lieu of plants and flowers, a Bernita L. Kaiser Memorial Fund has been established.
