Ann C. (Birkett) Trewartha, 85, of Hazel Green, WI passed away peacefully in her sleep the morning of Thursday, April 12, 2012 at Southwest Health Center Nursing Home in Cuba City, WI after a brief illness. A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Sunday, Junhe 17th at the United Methodist Church in Hazel Green, WI. The Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Cuba City, WI is serving the family. Ann was born on June 17, 1926 to Harold & Mae (Starkweather) Birkett in Hazel Green, WI. She was a graduate of Hazel Green High School and St. Francis Hospital of Nursing in Freeport, IL. She worked for many years as a registered nurse in the tri-state area hospitals. She married Carl Trewartha on October 7, 1955. She was a member of the Hazel Green United Methodist Church and Hazel Green American Legion Auxiliary Post 526. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, sewing, working on the family farm and patching up every kid in the neighborhood over the years. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Ann is survived by her son, James (Gale) Trewartha of Hazel Green, WI; 2 grandchildren: Matthew and Rebecca Trewartha; a sister-in-law: Diane (Joe) Higgins, and 5 nephews: Brad (Mary Jo) Birkett, Howard (Pat) Birkett, Mike, Mark and Mat Higgins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Carl in 2008; a son, Jay in 1995; a brother Richard in 1973 and a sister-in-law, Claire in 1984. In lieu of flowers an Ann C. Trewartha Memorial Fund has been established. The family would like to thank the staff of Southwest Health Center in Cuba City, WI, Grant County Hospice the staff of Cuba City Medical Associates and Pastor Debbie Pimm for the same kind and compassionate care Ann gave others throughout her career.
