Bernita Marietta “Bernie” (Vaassen) Neiers, 60, of Rocky Mount, VA and formerly of Platteville, WI died Monday, September 30, 2013 as a result of a motorcycle accident. Services will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, October 8th at the Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City, WI with Rev. Calvin Hughes officiating. Burial will be at the St. Andrews Cemetery in Tennyson, WI. Friends may call from 10:30am until the time of service on Tuesday, Oct. 8th at the Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Cuba City, WI.

Bernie was born on March 10, 1953 to Edward Leo and Mildred (Mueller) Vaassen in Cuba City, WI. Bernie was an avid motorcyclist who loved to ride her Harley and she was a Certified Nurse with Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA. Her passions in life were riding her Harley and helping others. It was her desire at her death to continue helping others by donating her organs so others may live.

Bernie is survived by her son, William Neiers; her siblings, Charles (Diane) Vaassen, Rosemary Gilbertson, Robert Vaassen, Emmarita (Don) Weaver, Dorothy (Francis) Miesen, Anita (Ray) Casper, Marilyn Basye, Thomas (Janice) Vaassen, Mary Catherine Silberschlag, Richard Vaassen (Kathleen); a special friend, Hunter Simmons; 47 nieces and nephews and 52 great nieces and nephews; many special friends and co-workers; a brother-in-law: Dan Ragon and her 2 fur children, Harley & Athena.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sisters, Janet Marie Vaassen (1962) and Joanne Ragon (2009).

In lieu of flowers a Bernita M. “Bernie” Vaassen-Neiers Memorial Fund has been established.
