Eugene C. Ambs, 78, of Cuba City, WI passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2012 peacefully at home. Services will be 10:30am on Thursday, March 29, at St. Rose Catholic Church, Cuba City, WI with Father David Flanagan officiating; burial will be at St. Rose Cemetery, Cuba City, WI. Friends may call on Wednesday, March 28 from 4pm-8pm at the Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City, WI and on Thursday from 9:30am till time of service at the church. Gene was born on October 2, 1933 to Charles and Genevieve (Krempel) Ambs in Cuba City, WI. He was a graduate of Cuba City High School and has lived in Cuba City his entire life. He married Doris Ann Honkomp on September 11, 1954 in Dubuque, IA. He worked at John Deere for 30 years until retirement in 1986. He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church and retired from the Cuba City Fire Dept. after 29 years in 1984. Gene enjoyed fishing, puzzles, camping, an avid Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Cubs fan, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Gene is survived by his wife, Doris; a daughter, Carla (Dick) Richardson of Belleville, WI; a son, Rich (Lynda) Ambs of Cuba City, WI; 5 grandchildren: Jodi (Rudy) Weber of Belleville, WI, Brian Richardson of Columbus, OH, Travis (Renee) Richardson of Surprise, AZ, Jason (Cassie) Ambs of Cuba City, WI and Jerry (Stephanie) Ambs of Cuba City, WI; 8 great-grandchildren: Hayley Weber, Madalynn Weber, Riley Weber, Wyatt Richardson, Eliza Richardson, Savannah Ambs, Treydon “Buddy” Ambs, Paislee Ambs. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jerry. In lieu of flowers a Eugene C. Ambs Memorial Fund has been established.
